Make a difference....

There was a little boy visiting his grandparents on their farm. He was given a slingshot to play with out in the woods. He practiced in the woods, but he could never hit the target. Getting a little discouraged, he headed back for dinner.

As he was walking back he saw Grandma's pet duck. Just out of impulse, he let the slingshot fly, hit the duck square in the head and killed it. He was shocked and grieved! In a panic, he hid the dead duck in the wood pile, only to see his sister watching!

Fatima had seen it all, but she said nothing. After lunch the next day Grandma said, ' Fatima , let's wash the dishes.' But Fatima said, 'Grandma, Ahmed told me he wanted to help in the kitchen.' Then she whispered to him, 'Remember the duck?' So Ahmed did the dishes.

Later that day, Grandpa asked if the children wanted to go fishing and Grandma said, 'I'm sorry but I need Fatima to help make supper.'

Fatima just smiled and said, 'Well, that's all right because Ahmed told me he wanted to help.' She whispered again, 'Remember the duck?' So Fatima went fishing and Ahmed stayed to help.

After several days of Ahmed doing both his chores and Fatima 's, he finally couldn't stand it any longer.

He came to Grandma and confessed that he had killed the duck. Grandma knelt down, gave him a hug and said, 'Sweetheart, I know. You see, I was standing at the window and I saw the whole thing, but because I love you, I forgave you. I was just wondering how long you would let Fatima make a slave of you.'

Thought for the day and every day thereafter?

Whatever is in your past, whatever you have done... and the devil keeps throwing it up in your face (lying, cheating, debt, fear, bad habits, hatred, anger, bitterness, etc.)...whatever it is...You need to know that Allah was standing at the window and He saw the whole thing. He has seen your whole life. He wants you to know that He loves you and that you are forgiven.

He's just wondering how long you will let the devil make a slave of you.

The great thing about Allah is that when you ask for forgiveness, He not only forgives you, but He forgets. It is by Allah's grace and mercy that we are saved.

Go ahead and make a difference in someone's life today. Always remember: Allah is at the window!

Finished our Semester 2

Semester 02...was harder then the 1st semester. More technical drawings and works to do which I never did and learned during my highschool. So, the difficulty to complete the assignments became very hard for me compared to my studiomates who had learned technical or engineering drawings while in highschool. This semester also, I almost failed my core subject since I didn't attend the meeting on the submission date. But, Insyaallah, with Allah's helps, I'll passed the subject.

Things that happened through the semester:

* Visits to Malacca - our 2nd sem's field trip also in Malacca which made almost all of Khazanah's members disagreed with it because we're given briefs about having a trip to Penang. Then, suddenly.... the Penang trip was switched to a Malacca trip. Anyway, this trip was really enjoyable because last sem I didn't get to explore Malacca Town fully.

*Archifest 09 Plus minus - This sem festival, our studio were really into it. We worked very hard to participate in it. We prepared for our performance till morning for 2 days. (sampai pencil box hilang....xtaula sapa yg amik) Making the best movie ever,"Jangan Pandang Mane2".(Thx to our director, Huari Yahya) And, we got 2 awards which were Best Movie award and Best Studio award. (Alhamdullillah, kalo xdpt pape mmgla merana satu studio, gile xtdo siapkan props)

*BEL - presentation skills....a subject that I dislike since my highschool (walaupun xde specific subjek cmni). First presentation.....bad. During the presentation, I became so nervous till my voice didn't come out from my mouth. Second presentation....bad luck. I was presenting in front of ID students since I didn't submit my p.o on the dateline(yela, dh asyik sakit mcm2 je...cmne xponteng kls)...and, for the second presentation, I didn't sleep from thursday evening till friday evening to prepare and practice the speech. I felt like a walking zombie that day since I didn't have a sleep and have appetite to eat until the presentation finished.

That're the things that happened(which I remembered) through this sem. And again, congratulations to all of my studiomates who got high marks for their marvellous works. Together we work harder next sems,to be what we want to be.

Malacca Heritage Trail

Iftar Jamaie' G13th

At last...I finally can meet all of my school's friends that I have long missed them. I was so excited to meet and see how their life have turned into. All of them are such a bright students. That evening,we're told to register at surau. It's my first time to see and enter the surau after I left my beloved school. After praying Asr, we have an activity which we need to talk about ourself and our achievements after school. It was so interesting to get know where and what are your friends doing now. And I was so admired of them. This activity end before Maghrib.

When it's time to iftar, we all assemble at Dewan Serbaguna. And after eating, we have our Maghrib's pray, Isyak's pray and Tarawih at surau. Actually, that evening I just know that there'll be a Qiyam. But due to the late information, I can't attend it. After finished Tarawih, I make my way to home.

It was such an unforgettable memory. I was so happy to see them and make me eager to see them again.

Khazanah's Iftar

In the end of Ramadhan, the 'successor' of Khazanah decided to have an iftar together. It was a tiring day for Kesatria's student because that evening,they have a talk in DSB. They all need to rush back to our studio to have an iftar together. Everybody was so happy. Our menu for that day is....a take-away KFC snack plate with a glass of coke plus our dessert;our hamper that we win on the Archiftar day. While waiting for the whole studio to arrive, we're chatting among each other. Inda's was drawing a chibi-like cartoon represent each of us. We started to eat when everybody arrived. We have such a happy day. After fnished eating, we go to surau to pray.

Archiftar 2008

Date: 22th Sept 2008

Venue: Courtyard, FSPU

Participants: All Archi Students

The event started at 5pm. All the participants need to assemble at the surau. Started with short tahlil. Finished tahlil, we moved to the courtyard. There're a ceremony....an award giving ceremony to all that contribute in organizing Archisa activities(Archifest,Archifest,etc) along this semester. Dean, Head of Program, and lecturers also attend the ceremony.

After azan,we ate dates and drink some water to refill our energy. We rushed to surau(solat Maghrib)... Then,we returned back to the courtyard to have our dinner...Nasi Bukhari. What a very delicious food.... Then, we pray Isyak and Terawih at the faculty's surau. The event finished about 10pm.

And not to forget, our studio win Panjut Pelita and 3D Hari Raya Kad competition.

Starting Project 3

Finished our second project, we were given a brief about the third project. In this project, at last it involving buildings. We need to choose a building either it has a historical value or architecture features. All of us finished most of our time, 'digging' the library to find a buiding that we like. Most important, the building that we want to draw must have an elevation, section and it's floor plan. These make us more difficult to find the book that include all that criteria. From the briefing's time my mind always think about a building that I've been admired for a long time; ALHAMBRA. Therefore, reached at the library, I'm focusing to find books about Alhambra.

I borrowed about 7 books that contain the building's information. But, there're too little information in those books. When there're some students start to draw, I'm still searching for the section and elevation of the building. I entered OPAC many times just to find a book specifically for Alhambra. I almost give up on the building. But I try and try until I find the book. I feel so grateful when I found that book. I feel so tired for the whole week just to find a book.(+ tgh pose plak tuh....)

Second process.... composition. We need to make 3 different compositions of our buiding on A2 size butterpaper. The lecturers dissaproved my compositions because I've included 3D view of the building. So, they help me with my composition. I redo my composition and traced it on A2 watercolour paper.(Sebab ingat nk wat gune watercolour...tp last2 dr warning; kalo guna watercolour dpt gred xlebih dr C...means susahla nk lulus)

Then, I sacrificed my parents' weekend (rs bersalah gler) just to buy RM3.20/pc pencil colour in Taman Melawati. Since the project must be in monochromatic mode, so I've chose brown as the major colour. Start to colour...and Alhamdulillah, Dr approved it and ask me to continue. And now, in this Eid's holiday, I need to finished 1/2 of my project that must be submitted on 8th Oct 2008.

Project 2 - Psycho Self Portrait

Our second project is psycho self portrait. We're given 3 weeks to finish it. The 1st week, we required to make a study about contemporary artists. Each of us need to choose an artist as our reference. After surfing many websites, I had decided on Cristopher Nolasco. I really like his style of drawings. They were so beautiful.

After choosing an artist, we needed to list all of our characteristics. The more unique the better. Finished listing, we had to present it to Prof. Then, Prof will choose about three characteristics for us to make a sketches on A3 paper. Miss Linda chose cool, naive and double personality as it fit my characteristics.

All completed sketches have to be presented again to the lecturers. After they gave green light, we could start to make colour studies on the sketches. First try on A4 paper, the lecturer didn't approve it. She said I need to change the colour and the drawing. So, I changed it and this time I draw it on A2 drawing paper. But, again the lecturer doesn't approved. She said that I don't follow my artist's style. So, I need to change it again....completely. So, I REDO it again. Alhamdulillah, after my big effort I achieved to get a good result.(doesn't matter if it's not the best). Here are some portraits that managed to get A+.

Submitting Project 1

On 18th of July 2008, I had submitted my 1st project in Architecturel Communication to my lecturer. And, Alhamdulillah I got a good grade(after spending the whole night with drawing, slept from 6.30am to 7.45am) and had to touch up the drawing to reach A+. All projects' marks will be carry on as our final mark because this subject really look forward to the projects' mark not to the theory tests. I had been given 2 weeks to finished the project(precisely 10 days). The title of my first project is Visualization of Objects.

On the first day of the first week, I had to choose an organic object and a inorganic object that I want to draw. The size of both objects must be the same or nicely combined with each other. I had chose a cutter and a capsicum as my drawing's objects. On the second day of the week, the whole class needed to present what we want to draw to the lecturer and each of us cannot draw the same object. Unluckily, I can't draw both objects because one of my classmate had chose those objects(his turn to present was earlier than me).So, I presented to class that I wanted to draw a torchlight and don't know. So,the lecturer asked me to draw an orchid. I just agreed at that time. When the class finished, I realized that I really don't want to draw an orchid. So,I decided to choose the organic object when I came home. Since I went home for weekend, I went to a supermarket with my mother. While watching the vegetables section, I interested in yam and gourd bitter. So, I bought both. I said to mother that I will choose which one I want to draw at college. And, I decided to draw the yam.



The 2nd week,(after borrowing my father's digital camera) I analysed about the views and elevations of both objects,the shadows and lighting. I drew the yam as a practices. On the first day of the week with the lecturer, she wanted to see our compositions of our objects. So, I made some compositionsnand showed it to her. She said it'll be better if we composed the objects next to each others. After I knew how I want to compose the objects, I started to draw the objects. The next meeting with the lecturer, I showed it as a final draft to her and she said my renderings was too bold and didn't blend so well(At first I didn't understand what is blend anyway but thanks to Wawa for explaining about the blend) and the size seem confusing. So she asked me to change half of my drawings to it actual size. The night before the submission date, I worked very hard to change my drawings. I started to draw at 8.30pm and finished at 6.30am. After prayed Subuh, I took a nap for an hour before going to class. I'm very grateful for the gradeof the project and the lecturer said I could get A+ if I do some adjustments.

Archikite 2008

Date: 2 & 3 August 2008

Venue: Bagan Lalang,Sepang
Theme: Lakar Langit

On 2nd August 2008, at 7.00am, we waited at FSPU bus stop waiting for the bus. We departed from there about 9.00am(which actually must departed at 8.00am). About 11.00am, we arrived at Bagan Lalang(specifically at our resort, but i didn't remember the name) We walked straightly to the hall because there're 2 Modul that we must attend there(which should be started at 9.00am) Therefore, our moduls had been shortened. Fisrt modul is about us make a company and a product that we want to distribute it internationally. And we were grouped into 10 per group. The 1st modul started at 11.30am until 1.30pm. We had a short break and continued the 1st modul until 2.30pm. The 2nd modul required us to make a sculpture per group based on the title; 'Mesra Insan, Ilmu dan Alam'. The presentor gave us 20 minutes to make our sculptures and coame back to the hall to present and explain our sculpture. The modul finished at 6.00pm. All the girls will sleep in the dorm of 22. While the boys had to sleep in tents outside the dorm.

At night, all boys had to pray Maghrib at the surau and have some tazkirah until Isyak. Because the size of the surau is small, so all the girls prayed in the dorm. And, the girls required to help the organizer to grill chickens for barbeque at the beach while the boys listened to tazkirah. While grilling the chickens, we had Wayang-wayang which there're a movie being shown on a screen projector at the beach. The movie we chose was Kung Fu Panda. It was so fun eating while watching movie. Unfortunately, the movie stucked at the climax, so the crew changed it to Ah Long Pte Ltd. movie. I watched the movie quarter of it since it was so late, so my friend, Wawa and I decided to return to the dorm first since we're being driven by a senior since Wawa's foot was injured while playing volleyball. We reached the dorm at 11.30pm. We slept at 12 o'clock. Others reached the dorm at 1.30am.

On 3rd of August is the day. The official day of Architectural Kite 2008. There're an opening ceremony by the Dean and the competitions began. There're so many competitions such as Run Upih Run, Flying the 3D Kite,Creating the Kites(the kite that we created 2weeks before the day), Sand Art(Sand Castle Competition) and Tradisional Games(Congkak, Batu Seremban and Dam). There're categorizes in the Kites and Sand Competition. The Kites Competition,the prize will be given to The Most Stable Flying, The Highest Flying, The Most Bizarre Kite, The Biggest Kite,and The Best Kite(appearance). While the Sand Competition, the prize had been categorized to; The Highest Sand Sculpture, The Best Sand Sculpture, The Best Master Plan, The Best Design Sculpture(the winner chose Islamic Architecture's design) The competitions lasted for the whole day. The event was closed by a prize giving ceremony. It was ended at 5.00pm. We departed from Bagan Lalang at 6.00 pmand arrived at UiTM at 10.30pm due to some problems.
